Students from ages of 3-5 will participate in
classes consisting of a 1/2 hour of tap and a 1/2 hour ballet. The
emphasis is on fun and creative movements. Classes utilize music,
movement, and coordination activities as an early introduction to dance.
Dancewear of any style or color may be worn. Retaining the emphasis on fun, this age group is really ready for Tap and Ballet basics, moving to higher levels as each class dictates. Dancewear of any style or color may be worn. Classical ballet is taught academically to students from beginner to advanced levels. It is the main and fundamental discipline of any kind of dance. From the body alignment and the proper placement of the feet to the technical dance combinations, adagios and jumps. The physical and mental discipline ballet requires is an assets to students of all forms and styles of dance. Point work is added when the student has developed sufficient strength and skill. Students enrolling in ballet must be 7 yrs old by 12/31. Please call the studio regarding dress code. Our classes range from beginner through advanced, children through adults. We teach all the elements of tap with a variety of styles. While our emphasis is on rhythm and coordination, we make learning Tap very enjoyable, using a variety of music, from Broadway to Britney Spears. Students enrolling in tap must be 7 yrs old by 12/31. Flat tap shoes, Oxfords, or 1 1/2" heel character shoes, depending on class. Jazz today is a combination of both old and new -- what we have seen on both Broadway and in Hollywood movies -- such as Chicago, with elements of Hip Hop thrown in at various times. Unlike Hip Hop though, a Jazz class has more structure, including a warm up with stretching and isolation movements, and borrowing from ballet, the basics, such as various turns and leaps. Students enrolling in jazz must be 8 yrs old by 12/31. A free style of Dance based on the latest popular street movements and music. Fun, energetic, it's very popular among Teens. Students enrolling in Hip Hop must be 8 yrs old by 12/31. |
